Northeast Somalia is one of the world�s largest producers of high quality frankincense the two varieties are Boswellia Carteri (Somali name Beyo for the gum and Mohor for the tree).and Boswellia Frerean (Somali names; Maydi, for the gum and Yagar for the tree) frankincense gum. The frankincense, gum Arabica, and the myrrh are used as raw material for chewing gum and certain medicines. The products are also used by the Somalis and the people in the Middle East as incenses especially the Fooh type. They are used as raw material for soap and cosmetic perfume products.
